Return to Raccoon City: Everything You Need to Know About Resident Evil Requiem

The nightmare is far from over. Capcom has officially pulled back the curtain on the next major installment in its legendary horror franchise: Resident Evil Requiem (also known as Resident Evil 9). Set to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary, this entry promises to bridge the gap between classic survival horror and modern action, taking players back to the haunting remains of Raccoon City.

Introduction to Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem follows a dual-protagonist narrative featuring a mix of a fresh face and a fan favorite. Players will step into the shoes of Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst investigating a string of mysterious deaths at a hotel in the Midwest—the same location where her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft (a survivor from the Resident Evil Outbreak series), was murdered years prior.

Joining her is the veteran DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy. The game features a unique "intertwined" gameplay structure:

  • Grace’s segments: Focus on classic, high-tension survival horror, emphasizing puzzles, limited resources, and evading terrifying unkillable threats.

  • Leon’s segments: Lean into the high-octane, combat-driven action seen in the Resident Evil 4 remake, allowing players to go toe-to-toe with the horrors of the city.

Genre & Release Date

  • Genre: Survival Horror / Action-Adventure.

  • Release Date: February 27, 2026.

  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows (PC), and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game is built on a highly optimized version of the RE Engine, supporting both first-person and third-person perspectives to cater to all playstyles.
